Your pick of the best keyboard depends on your playstyle, but we are here to help you choose faster by testing many products so you don’t have to. We have also reviewed best gaming mice and best gaming headphones for you.
Why having a the best gaming keyboard helps?
Thousand of computer games have been created over the past decade. Your gaming keyboard can contribute to your ability to perform while playing, or hinder your overall performance.
Your gaming keyboard needs to be comfortable and precise. Some gamers even take the keyboard’s visual appeal into consideration. Though personally I don’t care how the keyboard looks as long as the keys are not too close to each-other, yet close enough to my fingers, so the fingers don’t have to travel too deep in. This way my wrists don’t get tired even after longer periods of gaming.
One other criteria I have always taken into consideration is how quiet the keyboard is while I am playing. If your keyboard is quiet, you will get one less source of noise to worry about as a result.
Precision (also called latency) is also very important. Regular office keyboards are often not precise enough for a fast-paced game. Simply put, you need a keyboard that reacts to keys being pushed quickly.
One other thing that was taken into consideration while testing the best gaming keyboards for this article is its durability. That is if the keys can withstand the intensity of your gaming style physically (when I play, I have to be able to hit that jump/dodge button without having to worry about the key breaking). Note: gaming keyboards are also generally heavier and don’t slide on the table while you get carried away chasing NPCs.
Quick real-life example of how not having a gaming keyboard might affect your gaming experience:
Let’s say you have an NPC (non-playable character) enemy that is attacking you, and you have a toolbar of abilities that are numbered 1 to 10 (0 key on the number row included, as well as “-” and “+” in some cases). To be able to stop the attack you need to activate your abilities in order. If your keyboard is not precise enough, it will most likely “miss” activating one or two of your abilities. This may result in your in-game character being overrun by your attacker(s). If on top of that your keyboard slides away, you will most likely loose your battle.
So, let’s get right to choosing the best quiet, precise and durable gaming keyboard for your next MMORPG or multiplayer FPS, shall we?
Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum RGB Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
This keyboard is built really well, and you will feel very comfortable with it from the very start. It’s got nice rubber pads to stop the keyboard from sliding around while you are gaming and typing. The pads help keep this gaming keyboard in one place, in other words.
The USB cable that is used to connect this keyboard to your PC is a standard one, but the wire is also thick, thich protects the cables really well, should you accidentally grab it, for example. This cable is the only cable used in this model, since there are no additional audio capabilities in the Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum RGB Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

This beautiful keyboard uses key anti-ghosting, registering keystrokes even in most intense gaming situations. In other words, you will be protected from misfiring your in-game weapon, for example.
There are 9 macro keys (G1-G9) available in this keyboard. And 3 additional keys on top to control 3 different profiles for 3 different games, for example. All of this on the left side, where the main gaming keys (WASD) are, the additional keys easily accessible.
The keyboard, of course, has dedicated media controls. The volume level is adjusted via and integrated roller.
The keys are UV-coated, protecting the keys from grease, dust and abrasion. The palm rest and adjustable feet help put your hands in a comfortable position.
The keyboard is LED-enabled, so you will easily be able to see your keys and controls even in the dark.
This is the best gaming keyboard if you like having full control of your game and your multimedia from your keyboard.

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro – Tenkeyless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
This particular gaming keyboard doesn’t have the numeric pad to the right, making it a compact keyboard. This way all your fingers don’t “wander around”.
Unlike the other HyperX models, the HyperX Alloy FPS Pro – Tenkeyless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard doesn’t have any USB ports built in, contributing even more to the ultra-compact form factor.
The keyboard is lit up with red LED, so if you prefer to play in the dark – you can. It has a few presets for the lights, and the one I like in particular is when only the keys you press light up.

Please note: there are no dedicated media keys, and as a result you have to use the Fn-key. But for my personal taste having less keys is my hands can accidently press while I am playing is actually and advantage.
A few other things to mention are the “clicky” (but still quiet) keys and a nice “texture” feel to the keys (are matte). The keyboard is rather slim, so your palms will rest comfortably while using it, too.
Overall, this is the best-of-the-best among the smaller form-factor keyboards we reviewed.

- Cherry MX mechanical key switches
- Portable design with detachable cable

Razer Cynosa Chroma Gaming Keyboard
Razer is known for making gaming hardware, and they didn’t disappoint us gamers with their Razer Cynosa Chroma Gaming Keyboard.

It’s is one off the less expensive keyboards form the mentioned company. It still shares the trademark black look, has the RGB lighting and a slim form factor. The body is made of high quality black plastic.
If you eat and drink in front of your gaming rig (like so many gamers do), you will most likely find the fact that this particular keyboard is spill-resistant to be an advantage. There are holes on the bottom of the keyboard, so the fluid you spill has an easy way out.
(Note: spill-resistance doesn’t mean water-resistance – should you spill a lot of liquid on it, or submerge it underwater, you will most likely have to replace the keyboard).
The keys feature membrane switches, with quiet and rather soft key-press and a soft tactile feel.
To my experience this membrane gaming keyboard felt just as nice as some mechanical gaming keyboards that were put to review.
Each of the 104 keys are programmable, so you can assign different commands to them. This keyboard is LED-lit, has a gaming mode (which disables certain keys like the Win-key), and your media is controlled with the help of the Fn-key.
Just like the other two keyboards reviewed in this article, this keyboard also features rubber-pad for a good grib with the table, as well as adjustable feet (they are 2-in-one, with shorter legs and longer legs you can chose to flip out).
The keyboard can be configured with software you can download from the manufacturer’s website. There are just too many options you can customize, including profiles and how the keys are lit up.
Razer Cynosa Chroma Gaming Keyboard
The Razer Cynosa Chroma, features all the essentials a gamer needs. With soft cushioned, individually programmable backlit keys powered by Razer Chroma—and a spill-resistant design that keeps your keyboard safe—the Cynosa Chroma provides the best performance within its category.
